Want to Set Goals You Can Achieve?

In order to accomplish your goals, get into the habit to set S.M.A.R.T. Goals.
What does S.M.A.R.T. stand for?

S – SPECIFIC
M – MEASURABLE
A – ATTAINABLE
R – REALISTIC
T – TIME-BOUND

S – Specific
Next time you’re setting a goal, be very specific about what you want to accomplish. Think about this as the outcome result for your goal, not the detailed list of tasks to achieve your goal.

M – Measurable
You need to have metrics to determine how you are going to meet your goal. This makes a goal more tangible because it provides a way to measure progress. If it’s a project for the next quarter or next year, then set some milestones specific tasks to accomplish.

A – Achievable
This focuses on how important a goal is to you and what you can do to make it attainable and may require developing new skills and changing attitudes. The goal is meant to inspire motivation, not discouragement. Think about how to accomplish the goal and if you have the tools/skills needed. If you don’t currently possess those tools/skills, consider what it would take to attain them.

R – Realistic
For your goal to be realistic it in that the goal can be realistically achieved given the resources and time frame. For example, if the goal is to lose 10kg. It is realistic if you believe it can be accomplished. You need to ask yourself – Is this goal realistic within this time frame? Am I able to commit to achieve this goal?

T – Time-Bound
Anyone can set goals, but if it lacks realistic timing, chances are you’re not going to succeed. Having a deadline is imperative. If the goal will take three months to complete, you need to define what should be achieved half-way through the process.
Break it down into small milestones, so you can keep track of the timeline in order to achieve your goal by the deadline.

Now you have the weekend to review your goals for the next quarter using this S.M.A.R.T. Goal setting outline.

Happy Goal setting!
